So I might get a BMW…?

technogirl:

My mom found a ‘96 BMW 318i online, and told me she wants to visit it tomorrow. I was like “Mom you know it’s rear wheel drive..?” But apparently she’s ok with that because it’s a BMW… so still no mustang for me :P

But I’m super excited because it’s a convertible!! And hey its a freekin BMW, how many people get to say their first car was a Beemer? I hope I do! :D

So here we are…

fortunetoro:

Maybe you should sit down.

I have bad news. My car, the little rust-bucket which shall from henceforth be known as “my first car” bit the dust today. It coughed up blood midweek, spent days on its deathbed, and today was declared undrivable. By me. But hell, it’s my car, and if I refuse to drive it it must be bad.

It was one of those vehicles with character. In the 10 monthsa I owned it, it took me and Becky to Kendal - my first festival - and back. It went to Cambridge, the 200 mile round-trip the first time I’d driven anywhere alone for so long. It took a load of giddy students to laser-quest for Andy’s b’day, and took myself and Ryan/Andy to-and-from Nottingham over the winter. It gave me a proper sense of independence, and a real epiphany of what being grown up is about.

I know I’m waffling on about a chunk of metal and plastic, and I am certainly not a car-guy. Those machines make very little sense to me. But it was a stepping stone in my growing up, it was a great little convenience, and it has seen almost 16 years well.

So here’s to you, my first car.

Day 77, Just like old times.
Because I let my little brother drive my car to prom tonight, I got to drive my first car (now his), a mustard yellow ‘78 Mustang—and I forgot how annoying the starter was…What was even more hilarious: heard the “The Reason” by Hoobastank on the way to take his prom photos—just like old times indeed.
