Day one on the road and I saw the two oddest things I expect to see this whole trip. Please forgive my typos, I am writing this all with my phone.
We saw trucks driving airplane wings down the interstate. Now that was kind of cool, but what I could not comprehend is why there was only three. Wings should be shipped and arrive in even numbers shouldn’t they?
The other thing was much more unnerving. There was a clown driving his clown car. The decorations led me to under the clown was Republican and fundamentalist Christian, as if clowns weren’t scary enough. I have a fear of clowns, but as we came up beside the car I had to look.
I actually screamed. Why is a clown in profile scarier than one facing you? Maybe its because they could turn to face you.
A clown turning its face toward you is the most frightening thing ever.

Josiah and I are taking an impromptu road trip to California on Tuesday. We were supposed to head to Colorado, but that’s been postponed … so CA it is!
We’ve been to San Diego a lot, so we’d like to head to places around LA (like Santa Barbara and Long Beach). Neither of us have experience in that part of California, so I’m hoping some of you can help us out!
The plan is to drive to the northern-most city, then spend about 4 days traveling south along the coast before we end up heading back to Arizona. Unfortunately we don’t have the time/patience to drive super north, so the SF area is out of the question.
So here’s where I could use your help…
Whether it be cities or towns to visit, restaurants to eat at, bars to drink in, beaches to run on, hotels to sleep in—I would be sooo thankful to hear your thoughts! We’re really open to anything. Otherwise, I’m going to be relying on Yelp to find stuff to do.
So, do you know of any cool things to do in California?
